On the verge of retirement, government servant Ashok Vichare is the first customer to get his hands on the people's automobile Nano. It is a reminiscent of the euphoria surrounding the delivery of the first Maruti 800 26 years ago.
The scenario repeated when the crowds watched eagerly as Ratan Tata handed the keys to the first two customers at a Mumbai Tata Motors showroom.
Vichare, a custom officer said, "I am the first owner of the Nano in the world. It is like a dream come true. I would take it to Siddhivinayak temple and go for a drive on a Bandra Worli sea-link with my relatives."
So, the deliveries have finally begun. The automobile was first conceived as Ratan Tata's dream in 2003, which was first revealed in January 2008 and was meant for release last year.
Tata is trying to reach as lots of customers as possible in the shortest possible time. But due to production constraints it may take the company over a year and half to deliver the first lot of two lakh cars.
Maruti Bhandare, a cobbler as well as a Nano allottee, could well be two of the last.
The Pantnagar plant will churn out 50,000 cars a year while the Sanand plant is under construction in Gujarat, which will begin its operations by early next year.
The real check for the Nano begins now, as it hits the roads and there’s lot of skepticism about how it will perform on the road.
Auto gurus who have tested the cars are giving thumbs up to the automobile.

The complacent fisherman who has not caught any fish, spends the day reading and drinking. Finally, he sighs, withdraws his line, collects his belongings and goes home, thinking that this is what his destiny is and he cannot help it if he did not catch any fish. He will not try any better the next time, as he has convinced himself that his destiny is not in his hands.

The enlightened fisherman lives every moment he is by the pond in a state of super-consciousness. He feels the wind on his face, not only from his own point of view, but also of the wind. He sees himself as part of his boat, he finds himself revealing in every wave on the pond. He flies with every bird. And what of the fish? He is there on the pond. Knowing this, the fish will come to him like iron to a magnet. Because of that, his line is his conscious will, not coarse thread. When the fishermen go home, they feel differently. The ego-driven fisherman will be in a foul mood if he has not caught any or few fish, kicking his dog and making his and everyone else's life miserable. The realized one is at home wherever he is, and he will continue to enjoy the bliss of being equally intensely everywhere.

Many seekers think that if they feel complacent, they are showing signs of spirituality. However, whereas the complacent person has not seen anything astounding, nor is likely to, the truly awakened one has experienced a vision of the world which blows his mind. He has found that there is no difference between himself and all he perceives. He becomes aware that the reality of all that he perceives through his senses had led him to believe. It is creative in a manner he could not have even suspected. It is full.

In contrast, the complacent person skims over the world, ignoring it and deluding himself that he is pursuing a spiritual life. In fact, he and the world are charting a path indifferent to each other.

We often tend to put a garb of spiritualism on our indolence and justify it by saying that this is a result of the passive nature of Hinduism. This is either based on a wrong perception of our religious philosophy or is rationalization. Those who hope to progress on the Path should not submit to this misunderstanding.

Black Management Forum president Jimmy Manyi said white women should not be covered under provisions of South African affirmative action laws. Carrie Shelver of People Opposing Women Abuse argues affirmative action is not achieving the desired effect because it is not addressing black women’s needs. Theresa Oaklley, CEO of Absolute Ndaba, a human resource company, says “I have never understood why white women were placed in BEE in the first place because white women were not disenfranchised by apartheid. They may have had tough times bt they are not previously disadvantaged.”

Kelebohile Lekoape, consultant for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Resarch, argues to the contrary. “Surely, affirmative action was meant to provide additional opportunity for the previously disadvantaged. Even though white women were not totally disadvantaged, they had limited opportunities, thefore, more opportunities should be opened to them.”

To the extent each group of women, regardless of skin color or ethnicity, is allowed to achieve the full potential of her skills and knowledge, to that extent will all women attain such goals.

Two young German women who lost their jobs due to belonging to right wing groups have organized a new group whose aim is defending the rights of women who are involved in right wing politics. Iris Niemeyer believes she and other women are being persecuted due to holding political views rather than any work incompetence on their part. Ms. Niemyer said she was working at a youth center when the center received an email informing them she was a member of a far right wing group. The email even included photos of Niemeyer at a rally for the right wing extremist National Democratic Party of Germany(NPD). After she admitted the information was correct, Ms. Niemeyer was fired. After threatening a law suit the center settled by giving her two months pay.

A democracy must incorporate diverse voices, even those from people one may detest. Ms. Niemeyer and her friends believe they are “nationalists” and “patriots” even though authorities describe her membership as fostering anti-semitism and racism. Ms. Niemeyer and her colleague, actress Sigrid Schussler cast themselves in the role of victims who are being persecuted by left wing and liberal groups. They are using the new organization to bring together women who also have lost jobs due to having divergent political views.

Most probably women such as Niemeyer and Schussler harbor racist and anti-semitic views but until they engage in actions which are illegal, they have a right to be bigots. Years ago in the 1950s I was termed a “communist” for organizing teachers and denied numerous jobs. The strength of democracy is allowing diverse views and bringing together in the forum of debate ideas from all sources. Ignorance and prejudice are not crimes, they are diseases of thinking and the best solution is engaging people with these diseases in discussions.

Last week fighting broke out over, ironically, the issue of access to Internet. Over a dozen people were injured in the fighting.

As refugees enter European nations, the cost of their maintenance is not always welcomed. Social workers and psychologists have to be hired in addition to medical staff so when government feel the need to reduce costs, a refugee center invariably is among their initial targets. It's always good to have a city without crime, actually it what's our midsemester and we are thinking to do something worthy. We also want to do something that would help us in our carrier so we were planning to do an internship program. But we heard about a competition from IBM, and we felt it will be an opportunity for us to get inside IBM. Actually we opted for a project which is complicated and would aid us to think different. So we ended with the project my mission city without crime. But after an enlightening lecture from one of the IBM employee we felt confident on taking up the project. Initial problem for us was to submit the software requirement for the project. And we were working with IBM software's to create use case diagram. It took so much time to work with preparing the SRS, we never expected that we would actually submit the SRS in time. Fortunately we did our best and the SRS was submitted in time which made us feel great. It was a teamwork which paid us a fruitful output, still we are working with the project expecting good results. Each day we are working harder and harder to complete our project with a good interfacing and user friendly outlook. That's it for now keeping touch to know more about our project and our team.

ramani....I still don`t know why i like him but i still like him very much.Such a nice boy u know...He is my system administrator as i call him because he struggles with my 128MB RAM machine to install many softwares.I don`t know how he stays without getting bugged up....Other than that he keeps his room very clean that i always used to study in his room.He`s always ready to help me no matter what problem i`m in...It`s really nice to have him with me that we spend most of the time together.I often get rude and angry....but this guy always tells me to take things cool....and though i still remain rude i do realise his words sometimes.One of my best well wisher he is...He use to be very practical,stable even in times of pressure and that`s the one thing i admire him...Fear is usefull as he says sometimes that he perfectly balances fun and serious jobs.What else to say abt my best pal in hostel.....??Will tell in next testi if i`ve something more.A remarkable and RA one to be admired....Vijay
